For Practitioners, By Practitioners
Gathering Information, statistics & data around ecommerce is an essential component of the work of the Institute.

These activities provide measures and trends for Key Performance Indicators. These KPIs relate to Ecommerce imports, exports and online balance of trade, job demographics, productivity, the geographic density of online traders, investment, growth and profitability.

Evidence from collected data is intended to lead to interventions in skills development, investment and resource planning. This, in turn, helps set policy and strategy for the development, improvement and growth in trade.

Case Studies
The Institute is developing an extensive liubrary of case studies that tell the stories of real ecommerce businesses and the people that have created them.

These case studies range from small startups through to International businesses that trade all around the world. The case studies represent all industry sectors.

The key purpose of the case studies is to help others understand the practical business steps that lead to successful growth, profit and business transformation.

Website
The website is a necessary component in helping provide an online destination, focus and shared agenda for the growing ecommerce community of businesses.

As well as helping provide news, advice, case studies and technical resources, the site will be a training portal offering a variety of online courses leading to qualifications.

The site will include an annual calendar of ecommerce events.

Courses & Certifications
The Institute is run and directed by hands-on practitioners who, on a day-to-day basis, update their knowledge and expertise in ecommerce. This close connection with the practical implementation and operation of online trade gives the Institute a unique insight into this rapidly-evolving subject.

The Institute provides expert and regularly updated content to colleges and Universities. It also offers its own courses both through face-to-face training events as well as through online Computer Based Training courseware.

The Institute of Ecommerce includes formal certifications and qualifications for its courses.

Workshops & Clubs
The Institute's plan is to create a critical mass of interest, focus and activity in ecommerce within the business community. A key component of this will be to help develop a national network of local Ecommerce Clubs.

Each local Ecommerce Club brings together local businesses that share the common objective of building ecommerce businesses.

Using the shared resources of the Institute, local businesses can augment learning through local self-help within the group.

Annual Event
The Institute aims to deliver an annual event, Ecommerce Scotland, that will be based at the Glasgow SEC.

The event will bring together suppliers and users and will allow users to meet and discuss their needs and technical requirements directly with technology providers.

The event will include various social events as well as an opportunity or awards and presentations by key industry figures.
